Remember when the E175's were coming out, Delta was going to buy a bunch of those for I think it was SkyWest or ASA. Our MEC told management that our pilots would fly those. Delta quickly responded that they couldn't afford the pay rates our pilots demanded. Our pay rates happened to be $2 less than theirs, but that didn't sway them at all.
I remember reading some of the NWAs bankruptcy transcripts where they were discussing what became Compass. We told them we would fly the E175s, for the same rate, they just needed to make us an offer. The boy genius on the stand said we couldn't because of "Mainline Creep". Haven't heard the term before or since.
