Pick a carrier with pay rates and a contract you are willing to live with for a long time. It appears regional flying is taking a hit as things are being downsized and consolidated. Don't expect a quick upgrade at and then to move on from any regional in the near term future.

When hiring picks up at the mainline carriers you can expect regional flying to continue shrinking, particularly if UCAL gets scope under control.

If you are looking for PIC perhaps you should seek out some single pilot 135 operation. That is about the only place you will find a quick upgrade.
