Oh boy. You are getting into the PhD level of bidding with that question.
The short answer is no. For 99.9% of pilots - Your VD should always EXACTLY mirror your AE. (there are some rare exceptions to that rule that are also PhD level stuff)

The reason is just as Denny Crane stated. Be very careful with a VD different than your AE. On any bid with displacements, you could theoretically get a VD out of your category when you really would have preferred to stay. Remember on a VD you are volunteering to take the displacement of a more junior pilot.

(I agree with your second sentence though. Its highly unlikely there will be any displacements out of DTW 320 B on this bid)
