New categories are filled in seniority order whether its an AE, VD or MD.
Any of those will work.
The SLC767 guys definitely want to use the MD. To avoid an AE freeze.
AE's are awarded first, then VD's then MD's. If they don't AE they may not get it. Trying to MD just to avoid a freeze is a gamble IMO. Plus, I believe it would only be a 9 month freeze since they are already 757/767 qualified.
