No, they aren't being MD'd. There is a surplus of pilots in the SLC 767 category because it's being eliminated. The SLC 7ER category is open to all pilots, even those with a seatlock. Therefore the current SLC 767 pilots don't get 1st crack at the SLC 7ER slots. So if they want one they should AE it as those are awarded first. The only thing an MD provides is a seat anywhere in the system their seniority can hold, and there will be no training freeze. You see a current SLC 767 guy isn't necessarily being MD'd unless he chooses to be. She/he can AE too.
I thought the company did AE's and VD's first to AVOID as many MD's as possible. That's the way I understand it.
