This is ridiculous.

Someone needs to find out what the legal responsibilities of the company are. When someone quits a job they are supposed to give 2 weeks notice. This may not apply to a company putting you on furlough because corporations have more rights but some standard must apply. They shouldn't be allowed to give you 36, 24 or maybe 4 hours notice that you are not furloughed and need to be available for duty at their discretion.

UPS should be forced to pay travel or other expenses if they want to alter things at this late hour. Don't let them get what they want without ponying up something for the trouble.
