I hate to jump on the horse with spurs, but it really does not sound like you are trying too hard. Several guys on this thread asked for information (yours) trying to help you locate someone. You just left them hanging. An AF tanker pilot with 7 years flying and you can't find anyone at FDX that will help you is a little bit troubling. There are probably 5-10 guys from your UPT base that you flew with that are at FDX. Once you are dialed in, it is easy to find others that you flew with. Either you are not trying or you don't feel you would be remembered in the most flattering light.
Military pilots without solid recs and sponsors do not have much of a chance. With all the ex-mil guys here, the feeling is that if you don't have numerous guys you've flown with recommending you, there might be a reason. That unwritten rule doesn't seem to be as hard and fast for civilian pilots because the hiring group recognizes that they might not know more than one or two pilots. But military....think harder.
