Jet, because some guys would claim they did not receive it. It is not the inability to send the message, it is the inability for the company to confirm the message was read. Add to it, pilots and FA's could claim they never got it, so therein lies the issue.

Doing what you state means that you would confirm you got the message, but what about those pilots that did not like the message or truly did not receive it?
