It would be the same as a missed phone call or an unreturned voicemail, they would have to try other means. The text msg thing would have to be a voluntary thing on the part of the individual pilot. IE, you would have to sign up for it in icrew (or somewhere else). If there was no number listed in a pilot's info to text a schedule change they would have to call your contact number, call your arrival gate, use ACARS, etc. I'm saying we keep the normal means of contact we have now and just add this as a voluntary program to save time and/or money.
If you didn't want to accept the schedule change or had a problem with it, you could simply call them back and state your case.
Agreed, SMS falls in to the "nice to have" category.
