I'm assuming no socks with vibrams? Don't they get a little stinky?

I'm intrigued by the idea but for two reasons:

1) I'm a big guy. I notice when I work on my feet all day painting or whatever, my feet hurt if I'm not wearing a good pair of tennis shoes. Not sure if I can equate that to running but I do know a lot of people that have to stand on a rubber mat in order to reduce the chance of injury. Not sure if we are talking apples and oranges?

2) What about cold climates. Seems like vibrams would offer no insulation from running in the winter, which defeats the purpose for 1/3 of the year up north (unless you have access to a treadmill)

Any thoughts?
