On the fourth day, God did create SWAPA. Gods name is "Herb Kelleher." Quick history lesson, but it was Herb Kelleher who financially funded the startup costs and creation of SWAPA. Hmmm. Lets think about that one. Why on earth would Herb Kelleher do such a thing?

Again, my opinion only, but SWAPA is the only pilot union worth being a member.
It likely is.
1) They are pro-business. They fundamentally understand their business and what it takes to be financially successful.

2) SWA pilots fundamentally understand that unless ALL EMPLOYEES at SWA participate in the financial success of SWA, the pilots will not themselves be financially successful.
Tell that to the guys who voted the last contract down. Not enough money for them. The backpay check (between $20-70,000 depending on the pilot) wasn't enough either.
3) SWA pilots respect their management, and their management respects them. Pilots are generally left to do what they do best, fly airplanes. Management is generally left to do what they do best, manage a multi-billion dollar business.
Once you hit the line, you'll find the relationship to be slightly less "warm" than you describe.
Getting you into another anti-ALPA rant was not the point of my post, but, here we are. I was trying to alert you that the anti-union attitude you posses will not bode well for you at SWA. Chest-thumper central.
But wait, you'll miraculously change your ways (beliefs) when a union makes you $86,000/year (2nd year F/O pay), won't you?
Sell-out, or hypocrite if you prefer that term.
