FWIW (not much) I heard the MD-11s (8) were already cargo jets which is what makes them so economical to buy. I.E. no conversion costs. That said, it looks like Lufthansa has 4 parked at Victorville and Transmile has 4 parked at the Kuala Lumpur downtown airport. Coincedence? Smoke screen? Well, we know this is BS because the UN only flies white helicopters

And - Yes the 777-200 would be a MD-10 replacement, hence the companies fight to keep the 777 at wide body pay.
