Yes. This is exactly the approach ALPA should be taking.
We are off to a start with the 1500 hour requirement. How about a degree requirement also. A Master's Degeee in an aviation related field is not out of the question for a Captain of a Flag Carrier. It puts a burden on us as career professional pilots, but worth it if we raise the barriers to entry.
