I've been commuting to reserve since April 08. It's not impossible, but the longer the commute the harder it can be. Midwest to DTW/MSP isn't hard on reserve. You just need to know your work rules & contract, & know them well. The schedulers do push things IMO, but if you know you're correct & stand your ground they'll back off. It's happened lately IMO because certain fleets are understaffed. If your wondering about my comment related to the 7er, it's just more sticky because it's a domestic & international category so it's more complicated. Whitlow doesn't apply to international flying, so scheduling can do things that they can't do to a domestic guy, & it's easy to mix that stuff up IMO.

Don't sweat it, it's doable. I'm just getting tired of it.
I am very familiar with commuting to reserve... I am in a class behind you at FNWA. I will much rather do a 24 hour short call than commute up to DTW for a PIT turn.
