I commute overseas and have both Bose QC2/Ufly Mike and Telex 850. For traveling light and a comfortable headset, the 850 is great. I've jumpseated on the Q400 and used my 850's w/o a problem.

The reality is that the QC2/UFM is superior. It is multipurpose, comfortable, quiet and works flawlessly. I have little fatigue after a 6 leg day in the CRJ. The noiser cancellation is superior. After 3 years of heavy use, took the worn QC2's to a Bose store and they gave me a brand new set for $100. The QC2's are great for commuting. Even if I'm not listening to audio, I wear them. People leave you alone when you have them on.

Sometimes I still use the 850's. They are super lightweight and easy. Like I said sound level wise they were fine for me j/s on the Q400. On the CRJ200/700/900, 850's work fine with one MAJOR caveat: I need to use them on high gain when hot miking in order to hear the other crew member. When a master caution/warning chime dings, it's uncomfortably loud. It's not on low gain but, I personally cannot hear the intercom on that setting. That is not a problem with the QC2/UFM.

My humble opinion/YMMV
