I flew the 700/900 on reserve for a year and by some miracle I somehow never got to fly with any of the infamous crusty captains. Most of the old guys I flew with were awesome and easy to have a good convo with even though they got hired at ASA before I was born

I was born before our most senior captain was hired, but have otherwise found the same thing to be true. I was on the 700 for about 8 mos before my 2/2009 furlough and had a great time flying with a fair mix of captains from old/crusty to young/fresh.
