There is a solution out there that the arbitrator will impose but if the two groups got together without trying to screw the other group, they would have give-and-takes and a lot happier work environment and future.
Think about a nasty divorce. The lawyers are the ones making the money and it's in their best interest to keep you fighting. The Judge/Arbitrator doesn't really care. The longer the divorce goes on, the harder it will be to get along with the EX.
No matter how this goes down the AWA guys will all be fine when the massive retirements in the East take effect. In the meanwhile the West guys will keep going the same as they are now. Maybe the growth will slow, but it will be made up for in spades when the retirements hit.
Compare that to the fact that the West is trying to remove 90 or so pilots from the East seniority list, and put their butts out on the street with nothing. So before you get all high and mighty about how the West saved the World, just remember nobody in the East is trying to ruin your carreer by having you removed from the company!!!! How is that for commradery?
