Left professional flying at the end of 2007 for various reasons and have been flirting with the idea of getting back in. I am aware of the tough market. I guess the looming question is: Do I even stand a chance amongst the thousands of current and qualified pilots out there?

Since I left, I did a few contract trips with my last employer and still fly the Cessnas/Pipers to stay current and fresh.
To a prospective employer/interviewer (should I make it that far), how is being out of professional flying viewed?
I can hear some of you think "You got out?! Good for you! But you want back in?"
I know the ultimate answer lies within myself. How bad do I want to get back into flying will determine how motivated I am to seek the jobs. But I'm looking for a realistic, no bullsh!t point of view.
