I hear so many pilots whining about getting a "huge pay raise" and "industry leading rates" but cannot find anyone spelling out exactly WHY they deserve (command) them. When my son was 5 or 6 years old, he used to bemoan the fact that his older brother had "more than him" and that it wasn't fair. Later, he bemoaned the fact that his brother was always getting on base when he struck out. Eventually he learned that he must be a "performer" if he expected to get to the top. HE GREW UP!

IAH FLYR is a smart man. He is on to something and others simply call him names. The fact of the matter is that UAL pilots HELPED drive their company into BK with C2000. It wasn't the sole reason, but a contributor nonetheless. UAL pilots are burnt out. They DO DESERVE A BIG RAISE, IMHO (if they can/will command it). However, they cannot really tell you why. Somebody on here said that C2000 was a good starting point.

BULL $HIT ! ! !

You want more for mgmnt to beat you up with when the economy gets even nastier? Sorry, but airline pilots can't get paid $325K/yr and work 5-7 months out of the year.

IT'S JUST NOT, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

You want GOOD, TOP rates? Get your pathetic union to divide the work evenly among the pilot group, pay to seniority for about 5 years, then have all pilots have the same (or near-same) QOL. Because, let's face it, they're doing the same job!

But ALPA will NOT do that! They will find a way to take care of their bread and butter pilots (SENIOR DUDES). They ALWAYS figure out a way to do just that.

Mark my words!

Best,

JD
