I know NOTHING about how the new regs will be instituted. I'm not in the circle at the FAA that determines this sort of thing.
But I will say that beyond 14 hours of duty, my mind starts going.
--This is ridiculous! Ask an attorney, a physician, or an electrical engineer running a nuclear power plant to do his job for the current reg: 16 hours!

The long and short is that we don't know WHAT the new rules will be, but you can bet that since Obama is considered AGAINST big-business, that Fred Smith, and the CEO of Delta, and the CEO of United-Continental, and the CEO of American, and whomever is in the seat at Southwest....will come out COMPLETELY against all these changes. Fred wants a REPUBLICAN everything so that he can instantly invalidate our collective bargaining agreement and CUT YOUR SALARY DOWN TO INDUSTRY AVERAGE for cargo carriers, such as Capital Cargo and Atlas-
That means that a wide-body captain will earn about $140 per hour. From what I've heard, we have a few 777 instructors who are earning around $500,000 per year. I know one of them- he struts around the crashpad in Memphis talking about how he is moving to another state because he doesn't want to pay state tax.
He's a military guy, and the federal government spent $1 million to pay for his aviation training. That's right- $1 MILLION, right out of you or your parents pockets.

Well, "BRUCE" [that's not his name but I have to come up with one] has been out earning his $45,000 per month and yet...while spending most of his time from August 30 to September 25 in our crashpad [paying the grand total of $200 per month, just as me]
Hello? Anyone home? You are earning $45k per MONTH and you will room with 6 guys? Yeah, I would do that if I wanted to party with them a little bit, but this is ridiculous! If I was paid that much I'd just BUY a house in Memphis, or rent a place on the cheap. BRUCE was the consumate student: He studied from 0800 to 1600 each day in his room. I was amazed- I can't work that hard.

Remeber folks: YOUR BIG PAYCHECK comes as courtesy of a union contract. Those folks on Fox News that you like so much are INTENT on deleting your contract. You are a per-hour employee, and as an airline pilot in China, you'd earn about $10 per hour, or about the same as the guy in the orange vest at Home Depot.
