Speaking of UAL recalls, how exactly do their recall rights work? The recall rights are part of the contract. Contracts can and do change. Under the current UAL contract the recall right protects the seniority of furloughed pilots for 10 years. They can continue to bypass for 10 years and keep the same seniority position on the list. MIL and LOA could be used to extend this amount of time in some cases.
Having your seniority protected means just that. You keep your place on the list and would return to it ahead of any that were behind you before, or that are added to the list as new hires.
The JCBA being worked out now, will likely contain updates to this policy.
