The trend will only continue if YOU and your fellow ALPA brothers and sisters allow it.

Your response is common on APC but, IMHO, it misses the point by a wide margin. My employer, Skywest, does NOT own its gates, does NOT own its reservation system, does NOT own the landing slots at the hubs we fly into . . . . shall I continue the list of what Skywest does NOT own . . . but Delta/United/Continental does own and control 100%.

I have my job because you allow me to have my job. Don't blame me because I need to eat, my wife needs to eat, my son needs to eat, and people were handing out aviation jobs in 2005 like candy on Halloween.

SWA has NEVER in its entire history outsourced pilot jobs to anybody.

10 year old, defunct, industry leading pay scales mean nothing to mainline pilots who are out of work, and to be honest, people like me who thus far are relegated to the bottom tier in an aviation industry, potentially for the remainder of our careers, while the precious few pilots at the top of the pyramid laugh all the way to the bank.

In a bad attempt to swerve this post back to the initial posters thread title, here is my question: do legacy pilots think outsourcing pilot careers and pay scales to regionals is funny?
