Not always! I got a ticket for expired tags in Aug, and just left the Shelby County Justice Center 45mins ago. Told the clerk in the courtroom that it was my airport junker car and she said "Have a nice weekend" and sent me on my way.
No coin out of my pocket, just 45 mins out of my day!
