I'm not necessarily arguing your entire point. All I am saying is that once you reach the top of the payscale, ANY union will receive no additional dues money from you. The only that the union's intake increases is thru growth of the top end group in terms of numbers OR payrates. But let's say that a pilot group is static.. no retirements for a while. The union receives no additional income. So now a hundred guys retire. Guys move up into those slots, and since they are at the top of the payscale... no additional income for the union. And believe me, I am completely on board with your statement that just because alpa does something.... It is a beast that needs to eat.
