I believe this statement is incorrect. Only those on the bottom of the list (the most junior dozen or so) are subject to the mandatory call for an early December class currently. However, given the projected schedule for future ground school dates, all of those on the list should anticipate a mandatory recall within the next 3 months, if not sooner. Every remaining furloughed pilot has bypassed multiple recalls, so it is highly likely that many may choose not to come back.

If 'gatorbird' is correct, than it appears that Spirit may start interviewing to establish a pool as well. Perhaps they intend to 'mandatory' a dozen pilots @ a time (there are only about 36 guys or so left on furlough, or 3 classes worth), and then backfill the remaining slots with street hires. The mandatory guys require 14 days notice. You can tell a street hire 'now or never' and probably get a few to go for it - seniority over future classes and an Airbus 320 PIC type rating can be a motivator. Because all of the current furloughed pilots have been out for over 2 years, they would require a longer training course, which could be more easily integrated with new hire training.

Regardless of whether I'm right or not, those looking to join Spirit will likely see an opportunity shortly.
