I understand the knee jerk reaction of anger towards skywest but this is exactly what management wants. They want you to have your jumpseat war and to protest and pout. It detracts from our image as professionals and makes us look childish. They can then use this against us in court as an "illegal job action" or as ammunition in arbitration. It is a battle that will be fought and won in a court or at a negotiating table. A jumpseat battle is a mere inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Who is more at fault the jumpseater or the scumbag in first class on a PS0B pass?
The best way to fight this is to stop negotiating in public, start pushing ALPA to make a safety issue out of regionals, and fly S.A.F.E. (slow and F expensive) until your court date.
I don't get some of these posts from CAL pilots saying they will deny their jumpseats to Skywest Pilots who fly out of IAH.
I can remember a time when I was sitting side-saddle on a tri-motor when Captains at UAL refused to allow CAL pilots their jumpseats because they were all "scabs". This was after Lorenzo's carnage was over and several CAL pilots, who had NOT crossed a picket line, were being recalled. You can't punish the pilots for acts of their management al la Frank Lorenzo. My jumpseat is open to any pilot from any approved CASS airline trying to go to or from work...Anytime. Really guys; denying a jumpseat for these SkyWest Pilots is like punishing a child for the acts of their parents.
