Do you honestly think that if it was announced that Shuttle America was opening the IAH base to fly the E170 that the CAL pilots wouldn't have had the same reaction? I don't. I'm not a CAL pilot, but I doubt it has anything to do with Skywest not being ALPA. Again, if I'm wrong, hopefully the CAL pilots will step in here and set me straight.
I honestly don't know why there is a difference between the Skywest pilots and Shuttle America pilots. If I was a CAL pilot, it wouldn't make a difference whether there was a base or not. As far as the ASE flights, my understanding is that those were being done under the UAL code. Maybe the CAL MEC is in some kind of understanding with the IBT about this. I do know that the ALPA SPSC committee coordinates among all ALPA MECs which Skywest is obviously not a part of.
