Denying a jump seat to a scab is one thing but denying a jump seat to a fellow pilot is just punkass in MY opinion. If that was the case than jump seats wouldn't exist because after all aren't we all competing against each other? Give me a break, management has turned us all against each other.
The only thing this JS denial will cause is a JS war. Do ( some of) you guys really think that your going to change the entire dynamics of the airline industry by not letting Joe Blo from airline X to catch a ride? If you do than you should be a union electrician in Jersey or something. Maybe the mafia or a Mexican gang. Get off your 'high horse' and play nice, but fair.
There are alot of rivalries between different branches of the military but in a bar fight, whatever, those guys will stand side-by-side despite the low level differences because of the end goal. Denying a JS is just a poke in the eye that will only affect that one guy. It's not like your falling on your sword and sending a nuke to the other 'airline'. Unless that's what you want to start... Which would get ugly and be nonproductive for all the flyers, commuters from every airline.
Please, pick your battles. Engage the ones you can win and affect the long term outcome that is in the best interest of the entire group and let the personal attacks against Joe Blo pass.
Aside-Sounds like my 3-year divorce!!!
