Now my experience has been that it will be assigned by the 0700-1500 shift, & if you haven't acknowledged it by the time the 1500-2300 shift comes in they will call you to inform you of your SC assignment.
Now, if you're on Long Call they need 10 hours to convert you, however you can use the 1st 2 hours of said SC to commute so really you get 12 hours.
If you are coming off a 24/7 FAR rest day it is treated just like an X day. In this case it can be put on your schedule by 1500 and can start as early as 5 hours AFTER your rest ends.
Clear as mud??
All clear except the last part. How can you start 5 hours after rest when you are not contactable during rest? The only way I could see this happening is if it was acknowledged prior to your rest
