It has been a while since I flew the 767, but it seems there was very little margin at max landing weight, set up for a single engine approach... 9 inches comes to mind ... and that was a Boeing uber test pilot on his fourth cup of coffee, knowing it was coming.
If, say, a domestic jet was involved with no way to dump fuel and there was reason to believe the other engine had damage (ie reason to land sooner rather than later) ... .
