So, they are raising pay, because they want to spread the wealth of their companies, and pay all their employees more?

NO!!! There IS a shortage of applicants/interviewees/new-hires for their position, so they
HAVE to raise the T&Cs (Terms and Conditions) to get enough people to fill the seats.

If there was an increasing excess number of pilots, they would be LOWERING the salaries!!!! Basic ECON 101!!!

Asia, the ME, and Africa, especially, are already affected by the pilot shortage, and it won't ge getting better anytime soon, unless the US starts airline-funded MCP type-training.
