Electricity was being restored late Monday morning to several Delta Air Lines gates at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, several hours after half of Concourse B lost power.

The power outage resulted in delays and some cancellations Monday as the last of the Thanksgiving fliers mixed with the normal influx of business travelers.

The power went out to about half of Concourse B shortly after 5 a.m., impacting 18 of the airport's 199 gates.

"The power is now being restored and operations are returning to normal," airport spokeswoman Katena Carvajales said in an 11:45 a.m. e-mail.

Delta spokesman Anthony Black told the AJC that Delta canceled about two dozen flights and shifted flights originally assigned to the affected gates to other gates.

Black said the airline held some arriving flights on the ground in other cities until 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., flights were arriving on a delayed basis. Those delays ranged from a few minutes to up to an hour, he said.

The cause of the outage has not been determined.

Other than the power outage, airport spokesman John Kennedy said things were running smoothly at the airport on one of the year's busier travel days.
