It doesn't matter how many pilots are on the list! It matters how many are going to be hired. DAL probably has 10,000 applications on file at any given time, making it impossible to manually sort them. I seriously doubt ASA has that many.

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s we were hiring 300 a year and growing like a weed. AirlineApps existed (I think it was called UPASS then... TWA used it) but we didn't. The difference is that ASA would have to hire people in recruiting to pore over resumes/applications and conduct phone interviews. This used to be done by pilots. See where I'm going with this? Now, they're automating it, and passing the cost along to YOU by making you buy a membership. ASA acting like a big shot.
