My business (United) has contracted out this "business function" - "commonly one previously performed in-house (see above)" - to Republic, or Skywest, or GOJets etc. (I can't keep up with which of our 9-10 regionals is flying what). In the words of Yoda "That is why you fail". Know thy enemy...and you may have a chance. This is a all to common attitude. Maybe ALPA should issue a pamplet detailing all the companies and exactly how many aircraft and of what type they are operating for a combined United.
I'm on the outside looking in and most United pilots have no idea nor care who is doing regional flying for them...
