I too, would not mind seeing all of the outsourced flying gone...even if it cost me my job. Then there would be a chance to move on and up with my career. I think you have the right sight picture on the issue.
I also hope all UAL and CAL pilots have the same sight picture when any TA for a JCBA comes to them.
Regardless of what other gains any other section of the contract might contain, if section 1 isn't iron-clad in recovering flying, all the rest has a questionable horizon. Getting "x" percent raise, or any other improvement means nothing if there is not some means of reeling in scope.
If the NewCo's current actions regarding trying to put U Express into CAL hubs or the other new JV's isn't enough of an example, I don't know what is.
They will try to take a mile if you give them an inch. Period.
