They can not notify you that you are on reserve and make you go to base for 6 hours. The only way you end up on the 6 hour leash is if they attempt to assign you a trip and you do not acknowledge the trip by 3 hours prior. You are then obligated to sit short call for 6 hours starting at your original report.
