Mesaba Airlines to Join US Airways Express
Beginning in March, Mesaba Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pinnacle Airlines Corp., will begin operating as a regional partner for US Airways Express out of New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Mesaba will initially serve six locations out of LGA, approximately 48 daily flights in total, for US Airways Express – Charlottesville, Va. (CHO); Manchester N.H.(MHT); Ithaca, N.Y. (ITH); Syracuse, N.Y. (SYR); Providence, R.I. (PVD) and Washington Dulles (IAD) - utilizing six Saab 340 aircraft with seating for 34. Formerly these markets were served by Colgan Air, also a wholly owned subsidiary of Pinnacle. While the subsidiaries of Pinnacle are changing from Colgan to Mesaba for the LGA service, the current level of flying will remain the same. In all, nine regional airlines will operate as US Airways Express, including wholly owned subsidiaries Piedmont and PSA, Air Wisconsin, Chautauqua, Colgan, Mesa, Mesaba, Republic and Trans States. These US Airways Express partners will operate more than 1,800 daily flights to 145 destinations. We look forward to welcoming Mesaba to the US Airways Express team. Parker bringing in another turboprop operator sure doesn't look good for us at Piedmont. This pretty much proves they never had any plans on finding some more planes for us.
