Any rumors on whether trip length will be reduced with the new contract? Or will the company still keep guys out for 17 (extendable to 21)
There is to be a daily duty rig. 13 days of rig will put you at guarantee. Home Reserve is not paid a duty rig, so they may add HR and work you 13 days if they want to pay you the same as guarantee.

So what was the pilot group/union's opinion about being out for 17 days? Did they try to negotiate that number down or is it something the company is not willing to even address? Heard there are some new hires quitting during the first year because Atlas is leaving them out for a full 17 even if they've finished their rotation in 14. Even though there is no way for scheduling to use them, the pilots are not permitted to go home. Can anyone confirm this?
Of course, the above is possible. I am new so have not heard of it. Had a buddy who was sent home 2-4 days early several months in a row. They could not get him home on time, and didn't want to pay him all the extra money when he missed days off, so they airlined him home early.
My last two rotations I was released and airlined home 1 day early, as they were not going to use me on my last day on.

I think you meant to say "trip rig"?.
It is a daily duty rig. For each day you work (Home Reserve not included, from what I have heard), you get "X" (4.85???) hours of pay towards guarantee. Trip rig would be you are awarded a trip and are guaranteed so many hours of credit/pay for that whole trip. Atlas will not have a trip rig. You could bid for an 80 hour line, and have it reduced to 20 hours. But, in the new contract, you will get a guarantee for each day, which Atlas does not have now.

Don't need the pax thing anymore...
Atlas is adding PAX flying as quickly as practical.

Out of curiosity regarding the 17 day trips, are there any schedules built with a split, say maybe 10+7? Any word on whether the new TA will effect this? It doesn't bother me, but with kids that is a long time to be away sometimes. My idea schedule would be more like 14 on/14 off. Is Atlas filled with a bunch of bachelors or are there a lot of family guys/gals there as well?

Know anybody or anybody here at Atlas and still in the guard/reserve? How do the work around ML leave? I still have a commitment left and to be honest, if I have to do all my AF reserve stuff on my days off every month, that will not work. I can understand the companies side, but, a 17 day trip followed by 5-6 days at the base then 5 days off before starting all over again, every month, is not sustainable.
There are ALL types of schedules, including out-and-backs (MIA-MAO-MIA, for example). The PAX flying has the least number of days worked and the most days off.
Most of the Atlas guys have families, because they are mostly older. The new hires are now younger, but even then my new hire class had 1 or 2 single guys with no kids.
A number of Atlas guys are Guard/Reserve-sorry don't know how they work their schedules out...should be paying more attention, I guess.

online assessment, discussed V1 and abort/reject philosophy since I'd been working on developing SOPs for that (also a test question). I got a 74
That is the 2nd highest score I have heard of.

They don't require you bring logbooks.
A change as the 1st thing they asked us for was our logbooks.

You have to get to the interview (and groundschool) and pay for your hotel for the interview. They will pay for everything when you get to MIA to start training. I came in one night early to INDOC, and when I told them my schedule they changed my hotel res to move it up one day...I did not have to pay for that night in the hotel as I thought I would have.

Read as much as you can on Atlas, on all the forums, so that your decision to apply/interview/accept the job will be a better fit for you and Atlas.

Good luck, and God Bless!
