I don't see it on the forums, I don't hear it in the DTW pilot lounge, I don't hear it in the cockpit. Everyone I talk to wants money AND scope. So, from my vantage point, I think Carl's views are the views of the majority. Where are you hearing this "I want to get mine, everyone else be dammed" viewpoint?
I have had guys tell me they will do anything to better their financial position prior to retirement, even if that means selling some more small jets. They are generally the ones that bought something with their note money. (Most not all) Many of them see retirement in less than 10 years and do not want to work after it.
Keep in mind many of the guys I fly with are starting to realize that scope is not a "junior" issue. I talk about the success of the AF JV and what it does and now it is written, and then discuss the AS code share and what it "could" mean, then we talk about SJS. Some state frankly they could care less and realize that no matter what they see the bottom will not reach them, and others realize that pay has been temporary but to date scope has been permanent.
