I think for the most part the folks that have moved on to places like jetBlue etc had some previous turbine time. I'm hoping that perhaps as hiring windows open more the flight time we get (it's still scheduled multi PIC, just missing that pesky turbine part) will become more attractive; it would be nice if possible to avoid starting at the bottom of a regional to get some more jet time.
Pesky turbine time? I have about 1000 hours in a 402. Trust me, it's not the airline world just because you park on a 121 ramp and follow 121 rules. Trying to go from a 402 to an Airbus is a stretch. IMHO I know some have done it, but it's not the best thing to do.
