You might be correct about it's importance down the road. But that is another contract away. Point taken about the reduction in retirement income.. that is probably fairly true.... buuuut. I still don't like the idea of it. If there is some kind of deal, those dudes need to be gone to get it. No hanging around collecting paychecks while being "retired". We had a PERP at DAL before. It was to get rid of the pre 72 guys if memory serves correctly. The only thing I DO remember about it is that they got the money, and were allowed to hang around until their replacements were trained.. care to guess how long that took??

The PERP program for the pre-72 guys was in the 90's. It was supposed to be for 500 guys but the company let more than that take it. I believe it was something like 578 but am not sure. They did not hang around in the PRP program and get any money. I flew a couple of retirement trips with these guys.
The PRP (post-retirement pilot) program
was a result of the exodus of guys prior to bankruptcy.
