The bonus is still there but in greatly reduced form. The tempo of deployments for both fixed and rotary wing in the Marines equates to literally one year gone from home for every two years in a squadron. If you are lucky enough to get four years in a squadron, you can plan on spending two of those years in very hot, dusty and dry places; be it 29 Palms or some EAF overseas. At the end of those four years, you get your divorce papers and start looking for wife #2.
