That crap may have flew 6 months ago, but now with the Airtran merger that argument is mute. Perhaps the new UAL/CAL should have held out as well as opposed to offering up EWR slots. Now they have to compete with the sum of both a AAI/SWA combined presence in EWR.
It still is funny to me that a deal to swap landing slots came under more scrutiny than two major legacy carriers merging as a direct result of the merger being more willing to appease the SWA gods.
Glad we pushed back on this, hopefully it gets resolved within reason.
I hope you are right. I know we are pushing for "less" charity to be given to them as a result of the two mergers since the original filing/rejection. But I would be shocked if SWA and maybe even JB didn't walk away with at least some very valueable LGA/DAC slots in what will obviously be a flat out bribe/appeasement. Of course I doubt [hope?] their days of being treated like Air Force One by every ATC facility are coming to an end. Oh that's right, "ATC knows they can get it dunn and no one else can" or whatever
