AMR has made attempts to sell off Eagle numerous times in the past decade. Carriers like Skywest and Republic have shown interest previously but the deal never worked out because of the terms AMR wanted to impose.

Unfortunately, we as Eagle pilots have zero control or influence on whether they spin us off or not. ALPA has been saying a divestiture is imminent and they haven't supported or protested it since we haven't been told of any details or business model that would be put into place.

The AA pilots haven't been too involved with the divestiture talks since they have enough going on with their own contract negotiations already. Even if they were involved I am not sure they would have any influence over the decision.

The decision to divest us remains with upper level management and the AMR Board of Directors. They are having a meeting in mid-march and will supposedly make a decision about Eagle's future then. AMR isn't afraid to go against the crowd, so hopefully they find a way to integrate us into a part of their core business.

I agree it would make sense to keep us as a part of AMR, but the writing on the wall says otherwise when you look at the rest of the regional industry. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.
