Both of the guys I know instruct in the 727, but are passover paid for widebody capt.
They work on avg 26-28 days per month. But remember, they live in MEM, so they are home pretty much every day, other than offsite training. And being that they are instructors, they only fly the 1 trip (usually an out-and-back) per month.
Thanks for the support Zman. I have a number of friends in the training department and they all made 400K+. And by the way, none of it came from international override or per diem. It all came at 150 or 200%. Widebody captains pay adds up quickly at 200%. That said, they really have no lives. These guys just can't say "No!" to the training gods. I can understand why it's hard to say NO to a day of two or three sim support periods, which would transcribe to maybe $5,000 for the day. But to do it day in and day out, seems crazy to me. But that's just me. I believe in an honest days pay for an honest days work, not an obscene days pay for a few simulator support periods.
