We have duty rigs, above average pay, incentives to be on-time. All you have at ALPA carriers is confrontation and hatred between the pilots and management. There is nothing wrong with protection, but it isn't needed at SkyWest and you Pro-ALPA guys should maybe get some ALPA experience under your belt before you screw everything up and vote it in. Still have yet to meet one person in favor of ALPA who has been at an ALPA carrier, even the ones who worked for the union at TSA. Where was ALPA when GoJet happened? Ask TSA guys what happened when Duane showed up for the rally and who is doing the GoJet flying these days?
I am not against unions, but you guys need to go elsewhere and figure out what ALPA is all about. Far away from the song and dance you guys buy into.
ALPA is supposed to be some magical organization that gets us better lives??? But why is it the CHQ and Horizon don't have to fight with their management to get good contracts?
So what is ALPA about? A union is a needed evil, but its only as good as the members you vote in. With three Major Airline pilots in my family and my work experiance at Continental I know a ton of pilots who are pro ALPA... not crazy about it, but would not have it any other way. You must not jumpseat of Majors often.

Yes a lawyer can do anything ALPA can, but you'll be paying much more than what your dues would have been and you'll have a much harder time finding the right lawyer. Would you hire a lawyer to help you fill out a RIF?

Do you know the margins in the last ALPA vote at Skywest? I understood them to be very close.
