Is not the new hire FO who's over paid. Are the CAs with 15 to 20 years in the company who get a lot of money (compared with other regionals).

Thanks to the whole problem since 911, those CAs got stucked and didn't went to the mayors, doing Eagle as their career.

Simple math,,, 15 yr capt - 10 year stuck for 911 and oil price = 5 year. (they where senior Fo or recently upgraded captain at that moment)

This is my analysis, if I'm wrong someone correct me.
