I can't believe anyone would WANT to fly for less money so that they could be more competitive. Somehow you think that will get you a faster upgrade and then, I assume a job at the majors faster, right? Wake up! Because you fly a larger airplane for small plane wages there is less need for major flying, reducing the jobs that will be available to you in the future. Further it not only puts downward pressure on other regional's wages but also downward pressure on major airlines' wages, too. So the very jobs that you're aspiring to attain by working for pennies, thinking that you'll really have it good when you get there faster, won't pay squat when you get there! Nice job!

You're not just hurting your competition with that strategy, you're hurting yourself, now AND in the future.
AMEN!!! Maybe one day these SkyWest guys will get it. Truth be told, I'd like to see them get a MASSIVE raise for their 70 and 90 seaters. Not to make them less competitive but to see them get paid what they are worth and help raise the bar for the rest of us! SkyWest is making money hand over fist! Why don't you guys fight for what you're due?

While we are on the subject, here is something I have always wondered about SLYWest: Each employee has an individual contract with management but everyone's contract is the same, right? What is stopping management from agreeing to "renegotiate" that contract if a pilot goes to management and says "I'll fly for $2 less per hour if you give me the good trips"? Is there anything preventing management from writing up a new contract with that pilot? Or what if a guy says he'll fly for less if he can get PSP or SBA as a base sooner? Is there a mechanism in place that prevents that?
