It sounds like you can have one of your options but not both. If she's aginst you going in the military I wouldn't attempt it with her-- she'd be miserable and she'd make sure you were also miserable.

You'll have to choose which is more important for your life. One, the other, but not both.

Here's a test to see which route you'd rather take:

If you meet someone for the first time and you both get around to showing wallet pictures of your family would you rather say

1. "This is a picture of my wife".

-or-

2. "This is a picture of my jet".
