lemme guess...you also blame those greedy 60-65 year old guys who were flying at your airline 30 years before you were for "stealing your job" by not retiring at 60 and making way for you...
Unless you have been living in a cave for the last 10 years the only "reasonable expectations" for anyone in this industry are furlough once or twice, slashed wages and retirement, mergers, and SLI nightmares.
With the age 65 passing it was estimated that no furloughs would be required, then oil went nuts due to speculators giving management an excuse to park the 737's.
Mostly I blame the management team that parked the entire fleet of 737's because they were to expensive to operate, according to them. Seems there are many other airlines that don't have problems operating 737's. But as I said as long as there are pilots willing to fly for substandard wages then management will do whatever they can to outsource to the lower cost even if it means losing control of the product.
As I said before there is plenty of blame to share with many different groups for the current state of this industry. This thread started regarding Republic so I shared my views on that particular part of the problem.
Ultimately it is all my fault for believing this would be a good career when I was looking at payscales and QOL back in the 1997 time frame. I did my due diligence and thought it worth the investment in time and money. Then the rules began changing. Any one looking at the industry today and looking to get into it for a professional career is just nuts.
